GEOGRAPHICAL LOCATION
Peru, that has an extension of about 1’285,215 km2 is located in the center and occidental area of South America

THE WEATHER AND CLIMATE
Peru has the the largest climatic diversity of the planet, with approximately 28 types of climate.
The weather is hot in the north coast, with rainfall from January to March. In the central and south coast the weather is moderate, and the coldest season comes between June and December, with an average temperature of 14.5°C. In the jungle, the weather's average reaches 35°C and there is heavy rainfall between October and March. The weather is dry in the Sierra, with rainfall between October and March and the coldest season is between April and June

POLITICAN SYSTEM
Democratic Republic where the President and the Congress are chosen every five years

LANGUAGE
The official language is Spanish. Quechua is spoken in the Sierra, with a number of variations according to the region.

MONEY
The official money is Nuevo Sol (S/.), divided in 100 céntimos. It circulates in currencies of 5, 10, 20 and 50 céntimos, 1, 2 and 5 Nuevos Soles and in bills of 10, 20, 50, 100 and 200 Nuevos Soles. The North American dollar is accepted in most of the commercial premises, restaurants and stations on watch to the change of the day.
The great majority of establishments accepts the known credit cards more: It sights, Card Masters, Diners and American Express. The use of travellers checks has limitations, to consult in the establishment if they are accepted.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
It isn´t necessary for the citizens of most of the countries of America and Western Europe. The citizens of Bolivia, Ecuador and Chile don´t need passport or visas to enter until certain regions of Peru. In these cases the authorized term of permanence is of 90 days (extended by the migratory authority) . Consult with the Peruvian diplomatic representation in his country to obtain more information. ELECTRICITY
220 volts. Most of hotels of four and five stars they offer electrical energy of 110 volts.

IMMIGRATION
Valid passport. Visa is required only to few nationalities. The airport tax for international flights is US$ 28.24. For domestic flights the tax is S/. 17.64 (aprox. US$ 5.04).

COMMUNICATIONS and POST offices
We have a very developed communication system. We have public telephone, fax and Internet services. Public telephones operate by S/. 1.00 coins or by telephonic cards, sold everywhere.

TRANSPORT
Modern commercial airlines flight daily to the main cities in Perú with Lan Perú, Aerocontinente, Aerocondor, Taca Perú, Magenta, LC Busre y Tans.

SCHEDULE FOR SHOPPING
The commerce open at 9.00 or 10.00 in the morning and closes at 20.00 hrs. The shopping centers and supermarkets are open daily, including weekends until 22.00 hrs.

VACCINATION
If you plan on traveling to the Jungle, the administration of a yellow fever vaccine 10 days in advance is recommended.

CUISINE AND BEVERAGES
You will be able to find excellent restaurants in all the cities, with a great variety of national and international food. Peruvian gastronomy is reputed as one of the best in the world. Fish and seafood dishes are a “must”. Taste the famous cebiche (marinated fish in lemmon juice and spices), arroz con pato (duck and rice with coriandre sauce), causa, papa a la huancaína, carapulca, lomo saltado... The Peruvian typical cocktail is the delicious pisco- sour and the refreshing beverage is chicha morada. 10% of the addition is the usual tip at restaurants.


NIGTH LIFE
Most of the cities of Peru have a wide variety of night life entertainment. Information about places of interest can be obtained where you are staying. If you wish to enjoy typical Peruvian music, you can visit the so-called "peñas".
In Lima, the most popular discotheques, pubs and night clubs are in the Districts of Miraflores, San Isidro and Barranco. In other cities they are normally found in city centers (main square and vicinity).
